Underwriting managers lead team of underwriters at regional and branch offices. These underwriters analyze different types of insurance contracts and determines appropriate plans according to an organization's claims history. Calculates benefits and benefits cost. Performs work under direct supervision. Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.
Oversees compliance, quality assurance, and personnel. Leads and directs the work of other employees. Requires leadership skills, judgement, creativity, and comprehensive knowledge of the field. Typically reports to a department head. May require a Bachelor's degree, and 6 or more years of experience.
